Basketball Recap: China Spring Comes Up Short

If China Spring was feeling good fresh off their 48-25 takedown of Connally last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The China Spring Cougars were beaten by the La Vega Pirates 86-46 on Friday. The Cougars have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

La Vega got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angela Carroll out in front who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. The game was Carroll's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of CeMaria Kelly, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 16 points along with six steals and five assists.

China Spring's loss dropped their record down to 15-15. As for La Vega, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-6.

China Spring has already played their next contest (against Gatesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. La Vega will square off against Robinson at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
