Platteville and Dodgeville are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2021, but not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Platteville will head out to face Dodgeville after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Hillmen fell just short of Richland Center by a score of 3-2. While the Hillmen didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 25-11 in the first set.
Platteville actually scored more points across those five sets (95-94), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 15-5.
Meanwhile, Dodgeville came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Blackhawks with a sharp 3-0 win. The Dodgers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 16th (when they won 3-0).
While Dodgeville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-10, 25-23.
Platteville better focus on containing Kylee Stodola and Emily Reilly as the pair were huge in Dodgeville's win. Stodola had five digs and two aces, while Reilly had 15 digs and five aces. That's the most digs Reilly has posted over her last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dougherty, who had 13 digs.
Platteville's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-9. As for Dodgeville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-18.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Platteville has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Dodgeville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Platteville's way against Dodgeville when the teams last played back in September, as Platteville made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hillmen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
