Basketball Recap: Pawnee Heights Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Pawnee Heights kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 49-39 to the South Gray Rebels. The Tigers lost against the Rebels in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 66-25 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Pawnee Heights lost, don't look at Abby Hands. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. The game was Hands' ninth in a row with at least 16 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pawnee Heights will venture away from home to face off against Quinter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Gray, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Spearville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
