Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Bison vs. Lakeside Lancers

For the second straight game, Liberty will face off against Lakeside. Liberty is taking a road trip to square off against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Liberty is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Lakeside 9-8.

Cody Smith looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Liberty: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Ian Slater was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Feidner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakeside and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Liberty, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
