Football Recap: Union Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Union can now relate to. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 30-14 to the North Sanpete Hawks. The Cougars have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Union took the loss, they still got scores from Cruz Labrum and Gannon Labrum.

North Sanpete had a senior duo take command as Maddox Madsen rushed for 25 yards and three scores and Ayden Akee rushed for 103 yards and one TD. Akee has become a key player for the Hawks: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 3-4 otherwise.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for North Sanpete, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Sanpete, they will take on Manti at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Templars have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
