Baseball Recap: Burrillville Wins Going Away Against Prout

Burrillville won the last time they faced Prout and things went their way on Thursday too. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Crusaders. Considering the Broncos have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Adam DeCesare made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. DeCesare was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Burrillville let Jordan Furtado and AJ Escalera run wild. Furtado went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Escalera went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three runs gave Furtado a new career-high.

Burrillville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prout only posted an OBP of .375.

The win made it two in a row for Burrillville and bumps their season record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Prout, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
