Baseball Game Preview: Sullivan Redskins vs. Heritage Hawks

The Sullivan Redskins will venture away from home to square off against the Heritage Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sullivan has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 29.

Sullivan lost 13-3 to St. Joseph-Ogden on Wednesday.

Sullivan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fallon Rose, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against Arcola on Monday, falling 16-5. The Hawks have struggled against the Purple Riders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Sullivan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sullivan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Sullivan's way against Heritage when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sullivan made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
