Football Recap: Roy Royals vs. Farmington Phoenix
Roy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Farmington Phoenix and fell 37-7. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Collin Chapman threw for 84 yards on four of 11 attempts. Ange Ahui was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards. On the ground, Mason Welch rushed for 32 yards.
Farmington had a senior duo take command as Drew Love rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries and Will Peterson threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 76 yards.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roy will take on Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Farmington, they will face off against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
