Baseball Game Preview: Rochester Warriors vs. Rainier Mountaineers

The Rochester Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Rainier Mountaineers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rochester lost 9-1 to Montesano on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly eight runs.

Meanwhile, Rainier waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Mules as they made off with a 14-2 win.

Peyton Sheaffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Sheaffer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. He has become a key player for Rainier: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kaden Goodman was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kaymen Larman was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Rainier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Rainier pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rochester, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.
