Softball Recap: Deering Comes Up Short

Deering had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-11 to make it nine. They lost 17-0 to the Cheverus Stags. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 21-2 to the Stags when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cheverus, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Cheverus' part, the team relied heavily on Cameron Gagnon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Gagnon a new career-high. Avery Campbell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coincidentally, Deering and Cheverus will both be playing Sanford the next time they take the field. The Stags will head out to face the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Rams will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
