Football Game Preview: Whitewright Tigers vs. Wolfe City Wolves

The Whitewright Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Wolfe City Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Whitewright has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Wolfe City will arrive with three straight wins.

Whitewright is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Alvord on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Tigers were beaten by the Bulldogs 41-6. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Meanwhile, Wolfe City earned a 42-35 victory over Tom Bean on Friday.

Whitewright better keep an eye on Hd Davis. He was instrumental in Wolfe City's win, rushing for 503 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 64 receiving yards and one score. Davis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Another player making a difference was Brennon Russell, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wolfe City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 532 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Wolfe City now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Whitewright, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Whitewright was dealt a bruising 70-28 loss at the hands of Wolfe City when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Davis, who rushed for 350 yards and four scores while picking up 14.0 yards per carry.
