Volleyball Recap: Melrose-Mindoro Takes a Loss

Melrose-Mindoro lost against Blair-Taylor back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Wildcats since September 23, 2021.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-16.

Bella Rozek paced Melrose-Mindoro's offense, picking up seven kills. Rozek got some help from Opal Buchanan and her eight assists. Rozek was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Elissa Smetana was the offensive standout of the match as she had 12 assists and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last nine matchups. Eva Nyen also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Melrose-Mindoro's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Blair-Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Melrose-Mindoro will be playing in front of their home fans against Osseo-Fairchild at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Blair-Taylor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
