Utica dropped down to 5-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies. If the Redskins were looking for revenge after losing 16-10 to the Johnnies when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kiersten Hull put in work no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hull was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kenzie Fletcher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
As for Johnstown-Monroe, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-1-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.
Like Utica, Johnstown-Monroe also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucia Kuhn. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Kuhn was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Johnstown-Monroe got a big performance out of Riley Stefanick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Brooklyn Wood was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Utica is set to square off against their familiar foe Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Johnstown-Monroe will challenge rival Mt. Vernon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
