Baseball Recap: Discovery Comes Up Short

Discovery blew Davenport out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Davenport got their revenge. The Spartans fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 6-4.

Discovery got a good showing from Joshua Hunter, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hunter has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Conner Faulkner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Uriah Holley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Discovery's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Davenport, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11.

Coincidentally, Discovery and Davenport will both be playing McKeel Academy the next time they take the field. The Broncos will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
