Baseball Recap: Zephyrhills Comes Up Short

Zephyrhills lost to Largo back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mighty Bulldogs fell 9-5 to the Packers.

Zephyrhills saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Traiten Costello, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. The Mighty Bulldogs are 2-1 when Costello posts three or more hits, but 7-12 otherwise. Ethan Stone was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Zephyrhills has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Largo, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

Zephyrhills and Largo are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Mighty Bulldogs will take on River Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Largo, they will face off against East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Packers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
