Basketball Recap: St. John XXIII Comes Up Short

St. John XXIII lost against St. Pius X back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. John XXIII Lions were dealt a 68-29 defeat at the hands of the St. Pius X Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1009th, while the Panthers are ranked 211th).

St. John XXIII has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for St. Pius X, they pushed their record up to 25-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John XXIII has already played their next game (against Village), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the St. Pius X Panthers take on the St. Agnes Academy Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
