Baseball Recap: Baldwin Triumphs

Baldwin took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Fletcher, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Senators on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Indians as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Carson Duffy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baldwin is 4-2 when Duffy allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Maxwell Gallagher was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jesse Macik was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Baldwin and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Fletcher, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Baldwin will be playing at home against Yulee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Fletcher, they are taking a road trip to take on Bartram Trail at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
