Westview's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Benson as Westview made off with a 22-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Bunnies: they've now won four in a row.
William Mobley and Ty Simms made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mobley pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Simms pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Mobley posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Mobley went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Simms scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Rempe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Blake Smith was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benson only posted an OBP of .071.
Meanwhile, Millard South got the win against Creighton Prep on Saturday by a conclusive 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Patriots have posted against the Junior Jays since April 6, 2021.
Tyler Albert looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Jaxson Appuhn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake McAndrews, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Millard South's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
