Game recap: St. Francis Prep High School Football Team beats St. Peter's

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - St. Francis Prep (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) saw its 14-point lead dwindle to eight, but still managed to hang on and defeat St. Peter's (Staten Island, N.Y.) 34-26 on Saturday.

The Terriers led 20-13 at halftime, but the Eagles recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 8:00 left in the third. St. Francis Prep grabbed hold of the lead when Joey Troina ran for a touchdown with 4:00 to go in the third quarter, and never relinquished it.

Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at seven.

John Hurley stood out for SFP in the win. He threw two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.

Billy Triglianos made a difference for St. Peter's. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.



The Fresh Meadows school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 39-15.

The defeat comes as a step back for St. Peter's, which notched a 17-0 victory over Christ the King in its previous outing.

The Terriers (7-1) will play a non-conference game against Holy Cross next week. The Knights have put together a 4-3 record on the year so far.
