Basketball Recap: Southwest Christian School Comes Up Short

Southwest Christian School lost against Grace Prep back in November of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southwest Christian School Eagles lost to the Grace Prep Lions on the road by a 64-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 865th, while the Lions are ranked 143rd).

Grace Prep found their leader in freshman Mj Boyd, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Boyd is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Smith, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Southwest Christian School has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Grace Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Christian School will head out to take on Coram Deo Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Christian School is facing Coram Deo Academy at the right time seeing as Coram Deo Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Grace Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge All S at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for All S: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Grace Prep has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
