Softball Recap: Putnam Comes Up Short

Putnam and Old Lyme squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Putnam had to settle for second. They lost 16-4 to the Wildcats. The Clippers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Iyanah Ruiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Old Lyme, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Putnam does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Old Lyme, they will take on Thomaston on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
