Recap: Kingstree Blazers vs. Marion Swamp Foxes
The Kingstree Blazers lost against the Marion Swamp Foxes back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kingstree fell 62-52 to Marion. While losing is never fun, Kingstree can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Marion is ranked 36th).
Kingstree lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ja'Shaun Dorsey, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adarius Hilton, who scored 11 points.
Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charles White Jr led the charge by scoring 13 points along with two steals. White Jr is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jamorius Wilson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Kingstree's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Marion, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingstree will face off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for they, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
