Softball Recap: Canyon View Triumphs

While Canyon View's win against Skyline wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Canyon View Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Skyline Eagles on Saturday, sneaking past 15-14. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Addi Rushton and Sadie Sams did most of the damage at the plate: Rushton went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sams scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Rushton a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Castillo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Canyon View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.8.

With the victory, Canyon View broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-10. As for Skyline, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon View will face off against Carbon at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon View will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Skyline, they will take on East at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.29 runs per game on average), something Skyline will no doubt try to take advantage of.
