Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Range vs. Berthoud

The Mountain Range Mustangs will challenge the Berthoud Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Range's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Mountain Range managed to slip by Brighton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs came up short against the Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 5-0. One reason for the loss might be Mountain Range's aggressive play style: Jaelynn Pruyne and Guadalupe Rivas were both handed yellow cards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berthoud). They were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Wellington on Thursday. The score was close at halftime, but Berthoud pulled away in the second half with four goals.

Berthoud has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five matches. As for Mountain Range, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Everything went Mountain Range's way against Berthoud in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Mountain Range made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
