Basketball Game Preview: Chiefland Indians vs. Dixie County Bears

The Chiefland Indians and the Dixie County Bears will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Chiefland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Thursday, everything came up roses for Chiefland against Saint Francis Catholic as the team secured a 60-17 win. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Chiefland found their leader in sophomore Nyasia Bivins, who posted 25 points and six rebounds. The match was Bivins' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Laila Ingram, who earned eight points and nine steals.

Meanwhile, Dixie County played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Fort White, falling 66-27. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-12.

Chiefland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Dixie County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Chiefland took their win against Dixie County in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 55-34. Will Chiefland repeat their success, or does Dixie County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
