Football Recap: Harlingen South Hawks vs. Rowe Warriors
Harlingen South unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 49-35 to the Rowe Warriors. Despite 172 more yards than the Warriors, the Hawks couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austen Shroyer, who threw for 492 yards and five TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Gavin Ramirez also helped out as he racked up 152 receiving yards.
Jose Jimenez was nothing short of spectacular for Rowe: he rushed for 32 yards and four scores. The Warriors also got help from Landin Barrera, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
Looking ahead, Harlingen South is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Harlingen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rowe, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Los Fresnos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
