Football Recap: Darien Williams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Jennings County

After only nine points in their last contest, Jeffersonville made sure to put some points up on the board against Jennings County on Friday. The Red Devils strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The Red Devils pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Jeffersonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darien Williams, who rushed for 157 yards and one TD while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. The Red Devils are 4-2 when Williams posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nation Roe-mcbroom, who picked up 157 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Jennings County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Patterson, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and Brandan Mccory, who picked up 40 receiving yards and one TD. Mccory didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended two passes.

Jeffersonville's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Jennings County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Jeffersonville and Jennings County are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Red Devils will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Center Grove at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Jeffersonville's defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 34.9 points per game this season. As for Jennings County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bedford North Lawrence at 7:00 p.m.
