Madison has gone 7-2 against Middleton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Madison Mustangs will be playing at home against the Middleton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Madison and Greenfield meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Madison put the hurt on Greenfield with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ryker Stegall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. In other batting news, Garrett Clark was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nicolas Udovich was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Middleton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty Tech Magnet on Monday. Middleton was the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over Liberty Tech Magnet. The Tigers have beaten the Crusaders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Crusaders has come to flipping the script.
Like Madison, Middleton also got a great game from a two-way player: Kamren Bumpus. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bumpus was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Middleton let William Cornelius and Milo Bolden run wild. Cornelius scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Bolden scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Cornelius snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Pitzer, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Madison now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Middleton, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.
Madison took their victory against Middleton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-4. Does Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Middleton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
