Baseball Recap: Madison Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Madison entered their tilt with Hillsdale on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Hornets 13-4. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Norman Frederick made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brian Dopp was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Quinn Choinski was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Madison pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will host Tecumseh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillsdale, they will welcome Pennfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
