Basketball Recap: Ellington Comes Up Short

Ellington had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 63-47 bruising from the Greenville Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Whippets of the 53-47 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Greenville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ariel West out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. That's the most boards West has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Janea Keister, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Greenville and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Ellington will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Meadow Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenville, they will head out on the road to challenge Campbell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
