Baseball Game Preview: Marcellus Mustangs vs. Skaneateles Lakers

For the second straight game, Marcellus will face off against Skaneateles. The Mustangs will face off against the Lakers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Marcellus took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Skaneateles by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

For Skaneateles' part, Sean Olley was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Olley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hugh Carroll was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Cody Crane also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Marcellus' win bumped their record up to 2-7-1. As for Skaneateles, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
