Football Recap: New Hampstead Starts off Right with Win over South Effingham + How To Watch

New Hampstead had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 14-6 win over the South Effingham Mustangs. The Phoenix have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Christian Kinlaw went supernova, rushing for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.

Kinlaw was just one part of a punishing run game: New Hampstead was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 206 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Although South Effingham took the loss, they still got scores from Danny Murtha and Maddox Vasquez.

New Hampstead wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 28-12 defeat against Savannah Christian on the 22nd. As for South Effingham, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Toombs County at 8:00 p.m. on the 29th.
