Football Game Preview: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Flagler Panthers + How To Watch

Sierra Grande will square off against Flagler at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Sierra Grande's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Sierra Grande blew past La Veta, posting a 60-6 victory. Considering the Panthers have won six matchups by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sierra Grande didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rolando Najera and Jadyn Martinez. Sierra Grande received some extra help from Martinez, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flagler). They really took it to Weldon Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-26 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 32-point advantage.

One reason for the win was Flagler's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Cody Homm was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Gabe Harvey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Flagler is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.2 points over those games. As for Sierra Grande, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sierra Grande has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 202.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Flagler struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 215.8 rushing yards.
