Volleyball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

Hilltop lost against Sweetwater two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lancers fell 3-1 to the Red Devils.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 27-29, 25-15.

Sweetwater's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kalvin Arcedera led the charge by getting 14 digs and one assist. What's more, Arcedera posted two kills, the most he's had since back in February.

Hilltop has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Sweetwater, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-7.

Looking ahead, Hilltop will take on La Jolla Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers are facing the Torreys at the right time seeing as the Torreys are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Sweetwater, they will face off against Mater Dei Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
