Baseball Game Preview: Evansville Central Bears vs. Evansville Harrison Warriors

Evansville Central is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Evansville Harrison a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Evansville Central Bears will look to defend their home field against the Evansville Harrison Warriors at 10:00 a.m. Evansville Harrison took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Evansville Central, who comes in off a win.

Evansville Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Evansville Bosse a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their two-run performance the game before.

The result came thanks to Cooper Nurrenbern's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Jayden Walter and Jaxton Reeder did most of the damage at the plate: Walter went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Reeder went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Reeder has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devon DeJarnette, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Evansville Harrison's offense. They lost 8-0 to Jasper on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Evansville Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Evansville Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Evansville Central skirted past Evansville Harrison 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
