Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Burbank Titans
Chavez has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Burbank Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chavez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 720th, while Burbank is ranked 249th).
Last Tuesday, Chavez didn't have too much breathing room in their match against East Union, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. The win was just what Chavez needed coming off of a 81-53 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Burbank unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 75-51 defeat at the hands of Christian Brothers. Burbank has not had much luck with Christian Brothers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Matthew Robinson, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Paris Clay, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
The losses dropped Chavez to 3-5 and East Union to 0-5.
Chavez barely slipped by Burbank in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Burbank's Brandon Haley , who scored 20 points along with 4 steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Chavez to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
