Basketball Game Preview: Virgin Valley Bulldogs vs. Eldorado Firehawks

The Virgin Valley Bulldogs will head out to take on the Eldorado Firehawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Virgin Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Virgin Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 77-72 to Mater Academy East Las Vegas. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Reece Leavitt, who went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elian Pinto, who posted 18 points.

Even though they lost, Virgin Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Eldorado ended up a good deal behind Moapa Valley on Monday and lost 59-43.

Virgin Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Eldorado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Virgin Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Eldorado in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 51-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Virgin Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
