Baseball Recap: Deer Valley Has No Trouble Against Westview

Deer Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Westview on Thursday. Deer Valley was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Westview. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Owen Boyer looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Weaver, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Deer Valley is 3-1 when Weaver posts two or more runs, but 4-7-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hunter Metz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Deer Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted an OBP of .294.

Deer Valley's record is now 7-8-1. As for Westview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
