Preview: Logan/Palco vs. Northern Valley Huskies
Logan/Palco and Northern Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. Logan/Palco are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Northern Valley Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Logan/Palco has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Saturday, Logan/Palco got the win against Western Plains/Healy by a conclusive 53-31.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Logan/Palco to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mara Kats, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Kats has scored at least 25% of Logan/Palco's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ansley Delimont, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Northern Valley, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They fell 57-46 to Victoria on Saturday. Northern Valley has struggled against Victoria recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Austyn Cox, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Delaney Sides was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Northern Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victoria only racked up 18.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 1-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Logan/Palco have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northern Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Logan/Palco suffered a grim 59-37 defeat to Northern Valley in their previous matchup back in January. Can Logan/Palco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
