Amherst County had lost three straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Jaheim Jones didn't let it get to four. The Lancers took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 74-6 win over the Liberty Minutemen thanks in part to Jones, who rushed for 149 yards and three TDs on only six carries, and also threw for 245 yards and five touchdowns on perfect 8-for-8 passing. He is becoming a predictor of Amherst County's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

Amherst County's leading receiver Kenyon Thompson was Jones' top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Thompson showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 62 yards.

Amherst County's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Amherst County will head out to square off against Rustburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.89 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to take on Liberty Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Minutemen will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games.
