Softball Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short

Dunnellon fell victim to Crystal River and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Crystal River Pirates by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Makayla Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

Dunnellon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Crystal River, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunnellon will square off against Weeki Wachee at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Weeki Wachee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Crystal River, they will take on Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Calvary Christian: 1.2, Crystal River: 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
