Pinecrest is 9-1 against Southern Lee since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pinecrest Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Southern Lee will be up against a hot Pinecrest squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Pinecrest came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Richmond. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted against the Raiders since March 18, 2022.
Bohdi Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Will Chopping was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. JC Woolard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Southern Lee won against Scotland on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Southern Lee had just enough and edged out Scotland 6-5. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Fighting Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Michael Blanks, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Pinecrest pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Lee, their record is now 6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pinecrest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southern Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Pinecrest's way against Southern Lee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Pinecrest made off with a 9-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinecrest since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
