Basketball Recap: Southwestern Takes Down Marquette Catholic in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southwestern had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They snuck past the Marquette Catholic Explorers with a 50-46 win. That's more bragging rights for the Piasa Birds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was another big night for Ryan Lowis, who posted 22 points and seven boards. He has become a key player for Southwestern: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 11-12 otherwise. Ian Brantley was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Southwestern and bumps their season record up to 19-13. As for Marquette Catholic, they now have a losing record of 16-17.

As of now, neither Southwestern nor Marquette Catholic have any future games scheduled.
