Evans was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight  loss. They lost  16-6 to the Wekiva Mustangs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
  Zaire Cornelius was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing five bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Wekiva, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evans will face off against Colonial at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Wekiva, they will take on Apopka at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Apopka's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2  runs per game  this season, so Wekiva's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
