Softball Recap: Bartlett Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bartlett can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lakeland Preparatory Lions with a sharp 19-11 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Zoey Nuccio was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn McCommon, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Codie Rae Walter was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Bartlett lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory got Bartlett back to even at 7-7. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bartlett will take on Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
