Football Recap: Berkeley's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Berkeley lost against Summerville back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stags took a 36-20 bruising from the Green Wave. The loss put an end to the Stags' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Berkeley still got an impressive performance from Lj Washington, who rushed for 127 yards and one score. Washington showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 57 yards. Berkeley also got help from Jonathan Mitchell, who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.

Summerville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Kelly-Murray, who picked up 180 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 36 yards. Those 180 receiving yards gave Kelly-Murray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Kafina, who threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Berkeley fell to 2-1. As for Summerville, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Berkeley has already played their next matchup, a 39-0 win against West Ashley on the 12th. As for Summerville, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Chapin at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
