Softball Recap: East St. Louis Flyers vs. Belleville West Maroons
East St. Louis extended their losing streak to 15 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Belleville West Maroons, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in April.
Jayona Scott was cooking despite her team's loss, earning two runs and four stolen bases.
As for Belleville West, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-13. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
On Belleville West's side, Kaylee Asher was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Asher has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Charli Coppernoll, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
