Recap: Sanford Warriors vs. Dover Senators
On Saturday, the Sanford Warriors faced the Dover Senators in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sanford fell just short of Dover by a score of 61-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (56), Sanford still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Sanford still got an impressive performance from Jordan Spencer, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Spencer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Taylor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Sanford were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Dover, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanford will take on St. Andrew's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dover, they will head out on the road to face off against Sussex Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sussex Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Delaware Rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Dover is ranked second).
