Basketball Recap: Hayes Golden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Seymour over Gatlinburg-Pittman

Seymour lost against Gatlinburg-Pittman back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Seymour Eagles fell 64-54 to the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Highlanders are ranked 50th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hayes Golden, who posted 11 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jack McAbee, who put up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Seymour has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which lines up perfectly with their 21-7 record this season.

Coming up, Seymour will face off against Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they will take on Pigeon Forge at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
