Baseball Recap: Glasgow Comes Up Short

Glasgow extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-15-1 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Warren East Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Scotties of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Glasgow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Gumm, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Warren East, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

On Warren East's side, Matthew Escalera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Escalera has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kavien Hinton was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Alexander, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

While Glasgow had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
